Navigator Gets Reorderable Sections and Sharper Actions Required

Summary

Navigator just got a couple of UX wins. Users can now reorder sections — Quick Actions, Actions Required, Quick Sections — with up/down arrows, and the order is saved per view via the API, so it sticks across devices. Actions Required gets priority filters (high/medium/low), new sort options (newest, urgency), and a list view that shows more than the three-card row. Both heading to prod next week.

So just a very, very quick demo from me today. So I'm going to show you some of the two changes that we've made to Navigator over the last week. One of them is around being able to reorder sections and then the other one is just around some changes we've made to the actions required UI.

So 2 kind of heavily requested features. So first one's very simple for each of the different sections and I appreciate that's not the best terminology because we have quick sections which have sections in them, but if you've got different, so quick actions, action required in sections, you can now move those up and down. So we've added these arrows here.

This might not be the final UX. We do need to conduct a bit of an accessibility review, but you can see here I have just moved quick actions down to be second in the order. I can also drop that down to the bottom as well.

So what that basically delivers is it allows a user to order their sections how they want them to be ordered so that they can have the best experience. So if I just move this back up to the middle, let's say this is saved per view. So for example, in this user I'm using here, it's one of Ollie's demo users.

If I now jump over to a different view, you can see that the order is the original view or the default view, let's say. So what this actually allows is users for each of their views, they can start to configure them to have things ordered how they want. So for example, if on this lightweight user view, the user wants their quick sections at the top. because they're going to have some calendar-based activities that's going to be their primary activity on this view, then they can have this set up in this way so that the calendar is always at the top.

And that is then persisted against those views via the API. So if I go back to Evo, it will be the order that I left it in. Likewise, if I go back to lightweight user, it'll be the same order.

And again, that would be across devices because we've set that via the API. So just going to reset that before Oli tells me off for messing with his demo user. So the next bit I wanted to show you is around some changes to actions required.

So on actions required, we had some feedback from some early EAP customers that they're a little bit worried about potentially missing things that were in here or this not having enough visibility. So we've made some minor incremental changes here to that UI. So we have added this kind of filtering area here at the top of actions required.

So What you can do is you can now actually filter your actions by priority or by severity. So you can do high, medium, and low. I don't have any medium items.

That's why that's not an option. Or you can do by all actions. Alternatively, you can click here and you can obviously just filter them by high or low.

Again, same as the reordering UI, this might not be the final UI. I just wanted to show you some incremental progress. So that's pretty cool.

That allows us to now quickly get into all the important ones. Now, we will turn the tap on soon in production so that all feed items start coming into actions required. And the next step that we're going to add in the coming weeks is allowing a user to be able to... manage their preferences for actions required.

So something very similar to how the rest of the management UI works. And they will be able to select from certain feed items to go in their actions required to allow them to build different actions required in different views, depending on what their kind of primary driver is for that view. So there will be some more changes coming.

Likewise, we've made it so you can sort by newest, by which one's got the highest count and urgency, for example. So we've added a bit more flexibility there to allow users to control that. Also, what we've added as well, in addition to that, is a list view.

So in addition to obviously having the row view, but on the row view, You can only see three items and you then have to go through them to see the rest. We've now added a list view. So again, just kind of leveraging that additional real estate, you can now see a bit more information about each of these things and have that in a slightly different view, depending on how you prefer that.

And again, that works quite nicely over in the tab view. because in the tab view, I can see a lot more on the screen as opposed to just having three items. So just again, using that real estate. So again, that's it for this week's demos.
